Hello. From an article on the benefits of doing exercises in water:

"Por ejemplo cuando un grupo muscular se contrae, sus puntos de inserción se aproximan, obteniendo de esta manera, un mejor trabajo de los **músculos fijadores**. Es por este motivo que en algunas ocasiones con aquellas personas que poseen limitaciones de movimientos el agua nos permite movilizar y fortalecer músculos agonistas, antagonistas, **fijadores**, sinergistas, etc. que tan difícilmente se pueden trabajar en una terapia convencional. "
