Aparece en el encabezamiento de un certificado expedido por este organismo. Me gustaria saber la traduccion mas comun. Gracias

Pharmacists Association
Explanation:
I don't think "oficial" would be necessary here, according to the specific context you could probably add "National" Pharmacists Association.

BTW

I would always leave the Spanish and then put the translation in brackets, or even better, use a footnote giving the translation.

I doubt very much I would translate The Royal College of Pharmacists into Spanish!! but would leave it as it is in English with a Spanish translation in a footnote:)

neutral  Cinnamon Nolan: "College of Pharmacy" in Canada would be a school to teach pharmaceutics. But I do stand corrected: "College of Pharmacists" IS the oficial body in Canada. :-) No offence meant, Liz; twas a Neutral, not Disagree, after all.

-> How come you get a "College of Pharmacy" in Ontario then?

agree  philgoddard: Cinnamon: "college" means "professional body" in this context.

-> Thank you! As I said, I would stick with the Spanish rather than replace it with a translation, and put the latter in brackets or as a footnote.

agree  Muriel Vasconcellos: Physician and related professional associations are often called 'colleges'. The members are 'fellows'. My MD grandfather belonged to two such colleges.

in Spanish with Spanish Parmaceutical Association (US)/Royal Pharmaceutical Society (UK) in brackets

Explanation:
In Spain, a 'Colegio oficial' is not a college/university. It is a national regulatory and professional body, membership in which 'proves' that an individual is a professional with the appropriate degrees, etc. to exercise the corresponding profession. The Association also carries out activities for the advancement of the profession and of its members.

There is no official 'recognised' translation, so I'd put the Spanish in italics with the English translation in brackets after, using the UK or US version depending on the target audience.

Most of the references I've found are from the USA (American Medical Association, AMA, etc.) but there are a few for the UK. The references tend to use the -al terms instead of nouns (Psychological, not Psychologists; dental, not dentist).

In the 2nd reference, 'Pharmaceutial' is a typo. It should be 'Pharmaceutical'.

neutral  philgoddard: Why would you put "Royal Pharmaceutical Society" in brackets? That's a completely different body, and it doesn't say anything about "royal" in the Spanish.

neutral  liz askew: There is no direct equivalent in UK English, this is why the Spanish name should be kept with a translation in brackets or a footnote. I have translated quite a few bibliographies/references for physicians and pharmacists.

agree  philgoddard: This gets round the slight ambiguity of "college" - now let's have a long debate about whether there should be an apostrophe, as in American Translators Association. No, on second thoughts...
