Spanish term or phrase: utilidad a impuestos
This appears without context on a financial spreadsheet. Could it be profit before taxes?
profits subject to taxes
I suppose your option is correct, because most profits are subject to taxes, however, some investments in promoted activities are exent from taxes, and that is why I put profits subject to taxes. For example, oil companies do not pay (or did not use to pay) taxes on the profits invested in oil exploration. You do not pay taxes on the profits donated to social welfare institutions (up to the limit determined by Law).
