Sounds like a tab... Explanation: That is, a small piece of (reinforced) paper or cardboard, extending beyond the edge of the bound pages, that designates the start of a particular section. As such, a tab is somewhat similar to a mechanical lug, and although not a common phrase, "Volume E, Tab 10" does make sense... Cheers, HC |
