Spanish term or phrase: OPA de exclusión
General context: a bank newsletter describing activity and developments in various industries.

An OPA (oferta pública de adquisición) is a takeover bid...but an 'OPA de exclusión'?

English translation:pre-emptive takeover bid??
Explanation:
Web searches and paper searches turned up zilch; nothing to go on here but a gut feeling. Still -- remember the (Barbarians at the Gate) RJR/Nabisco circus? This type of (potentially hostile) takeover bid could certainly shut out prospective competing bidders.... or maybe I've just spent too much time around the bridge table.

Cheers, HC

"Pre-emptive takeover bid" has a convincing ring to it. However, the term still puzzles me: there isn't enought
contextual information to orient me properly.

Thanks again for your help.

buyout; sell-out

Explanation:
Found it! In French, according to LGDT, it is: *exclusion par achat d'actions*.

Termium gives both *buyout* and *sell-out* (and cites The Economist as the source for *sell-out*)
