Ping-Pong or subtle exchange Explanation: “Maneras de gestionar esta "larga cambiada" meaning: ways of asnswering properly. They want the sellers to respond to the “I will think about”, with a prompt good and fast answer, exchanging (cambiada) words with the customer, in a firm, complete, greaceful and subtle way (larga). I would translate the metaphor as “subtle exchange”, but to “translate culturally” as well, I thought of ping-pong. :-) The important here is the meaning of the metaphor, and then you will probably find your own equivalent. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 39 mins (2007-02-12 07:14:07 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Please read ANSWERING and GRACEFUL |

see explanation Explanation: See link: I'd reword it a bit, sacrificing the cultural elements, something like: There are ways of re-directing this put-off. We should develop some automatic responses, to be brought into action as soon as we hear the words 'I'd like to think about it' . sidestep/dodge Explanation: This phrase seems to be used metaphorically to talk about when someone is dodging an issue or making excuses. I found a few examples concerning politicians refusing to make a commitment. So, a good solution would probably be some kind of sporting manoeuvre that also has a metaphorical value, e.g. sidestep. Oxford Dictionary: sidestep n verb (sidesteps, sidestepping, sidestepped) 1 avoid by stepping sideways. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2007-02-12 10:08:20 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- BBC SPORT | Rugby Union | Skills | The sidestepThe sidestep.
