that's the correct word for this process. This is the addition of an

ethynyl group to an existing molecule... ethynyl = CH2-CH.

Takes me back almost 45 years to my university chemistry studies

This was easily ethinylated with lithium acetylide-ethylenediamine complex

Ethinylated steroids inhibit in vitro the human liver cytochrome P-450 .

Therefore, ethinylated progestogens may directly impair follicular activity and inhibit their own degradation.
