googling: 93.800.000 de "register now".
'darse de alta' is 'to register'. This is not that 'official', thank God (as Google proves). In most cases when you 'mark' or plan on 'keeping tabs' on something, you need an initial entry or log, to register it, that is 'dar de alta'. Any barman letting somebody 'run a tab' would previously ascertain ('register') who the client is.
