Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Computers: Systems, Networks / digital video storage
Spanish term or phrase: compactado
This term is commonly used in Spanish computing jargon to refer to the process of submitting digital contents (video, etc) to a robotic tape library for medium/long-term storage purposes (offline storage). I'm trying to find an equivalent word for 'compactado' in English.
Thanks a lot for your help in advance

I imagine they compress the data using one of the different compression methods (like fractal compression for video) before archiving it.
