Spanish term or phrase: retenciones - only as used here

In a document describing the computer system of a banking institution, under Systems Engingeering, Modifications and Control of Changes, comes this phase:

• Control y mantenimiento de cintoteca interna y externa según las retenciones indicadas

I have never seen "retenciones" as used here and I do not know what they mean. They are talking about keeping track of all the backup disks. This is the only time "retenciones" is used in the document. Any insight into this would be most helpful.
