Spanish to English translations [PRO] Computers: Systems, Networks / Social Media Websites | | Spanish term or phrase: camiones en el camino | ...se han puesto limites en este sentido; no te deja enviar más de un 4 pro ciento de contenidos de un solo sitio; se hace para evitar lo que se dominan "camiones en el camino."
This phrase comes from a research paper on social media websites, where users can post news articles directly from online newspapers (for instance) by using social sharing buttons. It is part of a description of such a site in Spain and is talking about how sharing too much content from any one site is restricted.
I started out literally: trucks on the road. ...(the website) has placed restrictions in this respect by not allowing you to post more than 4 percent of content from a single site; this is done in order avoid what is called "trucks on the road."
My best guess was that the author was using this phrase as a way of expressing "a traffic jam" on the website. However, I'm not sure that this is a valid term concerning social news sites. I know that a site can crash from too much user traffic, but I don't believe that "camiones en el camino" is expressing that. It seems to express something more like a "monopoly." |
