Spanish to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Computers: Systems, Networks
Spanish term or phrase:invocación
The document has to do with a software application for the processing of prepaid phone cards for mobile phones, and the activation and deactivation of SIM cards.
My best guess is that 'invocación' is a 'call' to a method or process and that in many instances given below the best way to render it in English is to change it to the verb (such as in second example below, "Calling cancellation in MVNE triggers the process...)
But I'm not sure 'call' is the IT appropriate word in this context. Help from experts appreciated!
By the way, WS = web service and POS = point of sale. MVNE and HMNO are the two applications in question.
I was at first skeptical of this suggestion because it's so literal, but after viewing your reference and then taking the research further, I discovered you are right. It also set me on the right path for other IT terms in my document that I thought were too literal translated directly, but this often seems to be the case in IT, even if it doesn't sound like proper English to my ears! "Call" would be appropriate in other situations. I found this: "Java Remote Method Invocation Application Programming Interface (API), or Java RMI, is a Java application programming interface that performs the object-oriented equivalent of remote procedure calls". The key in my case being that I am indeed dealing with objects being passed. Thanks to all! 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
