I have of course translated this as ´three waters´but wondered if there is something more technical. Thanks! |

| Clarification request(s) and responseaceavila - Noni: 5:14pm Feb 10, 2008: In the context of roofing I wonder if this is connected with the number of "slopes" roof has. A typical building with a gable roof is " a dos aguas" (ie the water runs off in two directions), so the 3 aguas tile may be triangular???

As aceavila - Noni correctly pointed out, this has to do with roofing. In Routledge Spanish Technical Dicitonary, we have:
"tejado a una agua" single-pitch roof"
"tejado a cuatro aguas" hip roof, hiped roof"
"tejado a dos aguas double pitch roof, gable roof, pitch roof, ridged roof"
So one of the correct technical translations for "3 aguas" should be " triple pitched"
