Hi Paulie, got this researching at LaFarge (all the documented uses of "a rompejuntas" have to do with insulation). LaFarge has a trilingual website that gives "a rompejuntas" as "joint-breaking" or something like that (doesn't check out as statistically kosher usage), but if you read instructions on how to install insulation from other manufacturers, you find that panels have to be laid side by side, with a small space (not more than 0.5 cm sometimes) between them. Educated guess indicates that, since insulation panels are NOT load-bearing members, joining them together by structural means (metal supports, cement, mortar, etc.) would only create unnecessary stress upon the total structure instead of dividing any load on the individual components. Thus, even when they are laid out together as a continuous surface, the "broken joining" between them must exist. |
