Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering / stone mining
Spanish term or phrase: plaquetera
Used in the stone mining industry.

Some instances:
Prob US or Argentinean].

At first I thought it meant a machine/plant for making stone into slabs. But then another use of the word is:

Explotacion de bloques para ornamentacion:
1a etapa - Bloques
2a etapa - Plaquetera
3a etapa - Placas (aserrado en bloques)

Which I read as (1) cut blocks from the quarry, (2)?, and (3) saw the blocks into slabs.

Could it mean the cut blocks are taken to the "plaquetera" and then sawn? i.e. bloques and placas are types of rock, but plaquetera is the "odd one out"?

Thanks
