Spanish term or phrase: a media ladera
Se ha adoptado un criterio según el cual el vertedero deberá ubicarse en áreas con pendientes inferiores a 40º sexagesimales. Por otro lado, y debido a la facilidad constructiva de los vertederos **********a media ladera***********, así como la necesidad de evacuación de pluviales, se plantea que la pendiente inferior sea superior a 4º, de forma que no se originen encharcamientos en el entorno del área de vertido.

The media ladera, this I understand as the convenience of building half way up a hill, but how could I phrase this more elegantly and scierntifically?

hillside
Explanation:
when I have come across this expression before, it hasn't meant "exactly half way up some slope", but on the side of a hill/slope.
This is also the translation given for this expression in Robb's diccionario para ingenieros.

.....Make sure the dumping area is level or slopes slightly upward toward the edge. This will help you to more easily control the truck when backing up.....
