Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering / Seismic-resistant buildings | | Spanish term or phrase: acoplamiento | Hi, I would really appreciate your help. I have some terms regarding a Regulation on Seismic-resistant Buildings I have been looking for and either not sure or can't find it. I don't know if this term has two meanings, sometimes coupling and other times combination? How can I see the difference?
Context for this one is:
"Este método toma en cuenta el ***acoplamiento*** de las vibraciones traslacionales y torsionales de la edificación y considera tres grados de libertad para cada nivel.
El máximo de cualquier valor de respuesta dinámica de interés para la acción de una componente sísmica en la dirección X (Rx) ó en la dirección Y (Ry), se obtiene combinando los valores modales según el criterio de la combinación cuadrática completa, que toma en cuenta el ***acoplamiento*** entre modos de frecuencia cercanas."
