Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering / tunnels
Spanish term or phrase: pies laterales/pie central
This is about prefabricated tunnels with
"Pies laterales curvos y pie central recto cuyo relleno de hastiales se ejecutó mediante hormigón..."

I thought it would be "Base/footing", but am confused about side and central "pies", I don't see how they fit with each other. The whole tunnel is "abovedado", so could it mean side walls and top section? But then, "hastiales" are side walls, aren't they?

Any help gratefully received

side supports / central support

the tunnel has vertical side walls with an arched roof - "abovedado".
Each section will have curved side supports and a straight (vertical) central support upon which is placed a gable ("hastial"), which in turn supports the roof/arch.
That's my interpretation....HTH

disagree  Kevin G: The footing is the hole you dig in which the supports are placed, it is not the support itself.
