| | hot mastic (asphalt) | Explanation: Beigbeder gives "mastic" for aglomerado asfáltico.
Asphalt is available in two main basic forms, rolled asphalt or mastic asphalt. Rolled asphalt is used for road surfacing and paving and as the name implies, it is compacted by rolling. Mastic asphalt is used for roof waterproofing, bridge-deck waterproofing and for wearing courses above the waterproofing on decks subject to traffic, it is also used for basement tanking, flooring, paving and for some heavy duty road surfacing.
Mastic asphalt is composed of suitably graded limestone aggregates bound together with bitumens or
modified bitumen to make a dense material with no voids. It cannot be compacted, and is spread rather than rolled. It is fully waterproof and does not degrade as a result of weathering.

Used with "hot"
In the last couple of years, a number of fairly new products – ‘thin noise reduced surfaces’ -have
been tested in the UK and look promising. There are now four main alternatives
available:
• Ultra thin hot mastic asphalt.
• Thin polymer modified asphalt.
• Hybrid versions of both of the above.
• Stone mastic asphalt.
