I think the term is used to mean organic food but the term is used more loosely than in English.
Ecological food may be used sometimes in Eng. though not sure that it's used as much as 'ecológica'
To set one sweeping definition for ecologically produced foods and beverages is difficult. Put simply, ecological foods and beverages are those foods which, by their production, do no harm to the physical environment or to any living species.

Farm products, which are produced by organic standards and are consumed locally, often meet the simple definition as stated above. But the majority of today’s foods and beverages have various levels of processing, from simple packaging to complex development and industrial processes, such as adding chemicals, cooking and other forms of handling.

The reason that foods and beverages need to be further processed is not new. In fact, techniques to extend the shelf life of foods are ancient and include techniques of cooking, drying, canning, pickling, and smoking. Many of us remember how our grandparents processed foods for the winter by canning or drying. All of these things were done ecologically. What is relatively new is the age of industrialized foods, which has developed most rapidly since the 1950s.

I note that grain and soya imports into the UK from the USA are already a mixture of GM and organic type products - this MUST be banned - there is far too much at risk for the sake of a quick profit.

Dont suppose you could extend this to cover North West France. There are many would be smallholders here who try to source good smallholding stock and end up with market drop outs. There are people here with really good stock who cant find a buyer. Lots of people would like to buy "organic" type products which are almost impossible to find. Were I clever enough to be able to do this sort of thing I would.

Es indudable que la salud es la principal preocupación de todos los seres humanos y la alimentación es parte inseparable de una buena salud. La producción y venta de alimentos ecológicos, vienen a dar respuesta a los consumidores y a la cada vez mayor atención que se presta a la alimentación. La innecesaria ingestión de químicos, producto de las explotaciones agrícolas y ganaderas son nocivos para la salud y deteriora el medio ambiente. Se podría decir que los alimentos ecológicos, orgánicos o biológicos, son aquellos alimentos y bebidas producidos sin la utlización de productos químicos en todas las fases de su elaboración. Actualmente, los consumidores tienen la garantía de que los alimentos naturales que compran son realmente ecológicos y saludables si al comprar alimentos ecológicos estos están certificados por los organismos correspondientes.
