It's a main course. My main problem here is 'sobre' - 'ON soup' or does 'sopa' have another meaning????

Yes, it does sound a bit odd, doesn't it, though delicious.

On a bed of would be a straightforward option if we were talking about some more solid veg base... Don't know how you feel about it here.

Yes, the solidity is what is giving me pause for thought too. But if the chicken isn't floating on top (sinking fast?!), where else would it be? Bit like croutons on onion soup?

Asker: Hi Noni - I usually use 'on a bed of' for 'sobre' but it's usually on something solid. 'On a bed of soup' sounds a bit odd I think. Do you think the chicken is floating in it?
