Cooking / Culinary / Article about a chef
Spanish term or phrase: te crece y crece a la vez
Article about a Spanish chef. Text in inverted commas are the words of the chef.

Amigo de los mestizajes “que cada uno considere oportuno” pero con sustancia y un lenguaje propio “el de la zona en la que estamos ubicados”, (chef's name) quiere seguir creciendo. Es la única manera que tiene de entender esta profesión que **te crece y crece a la vez. **

(this profession, in which) the chef and his art grow hand in hand
Explanation:
Maybe the best bet here is to forget the original and go for something general like "a constant challenge" or "an endless learning process"; there are all sorts of things you might say. But I think Clara is right to try to capture what the Spanish actually means: that the chef's profession literally makes you grow and grows (itself) at the same time. I can't find an exact way of doing this that convinces me, but I would like, first, to keep the idea of growing, and second, to keep, somehow, the idea of a symbiotic or mutually reinforcing process whereby as the chef overcomes endless new challenges and rises to new heights, this in turn takes to art of cooking to new heights.

"Grow" may or may not be what you want to go for; there's always "develop", or "evolve", but it probably is a good idea to echo the previous phrase "quiere seguir creciendo", so what you do here will probably depend on what you choose to do there.

I would really like to put something like "in which the chef and his art are constantly pushing each other to new heights", but that loses "grow" and is a bit long.

makes you grow/develop as it evolves

Explanation:
I interpret this as "te hace crecer", in the sense of "desarrollarse", while the profession itself develops.

...that constantly makes you grow.

Explanation:
The chef is talking about himself how the profession makes him grow, by learning and expanding his knowledge and pushing the boundaries (of his imagination with food prep).

All suggestions offered by others before me are feasible, too, depending on how you phrase it.

I love cooking!
