Explanation:
here to you the awful difference:
zootechnicians work for men (one coud add: and aften against animals)
veterinaries for animals (at least they should)

I do not know, however, if there are faculties/departments/schools of (both) veterinary and zootechnical sciences
(it would maybe sound a little bit strange to me, but everything's possible in this world :-))

disagree  Yello: I'm so sorry luskie, but you have to check Universidad de La Salle. They have a facultie for Veterinaria and another for Zootecnia. The diference is huge. Zootecnia is working for both:humans and animals. Zootecnia prevent the desseas Veterinaria cure.

zootechny/animal breeding


Explanation:
According to the RAE Diccionario 'zootecnia' applies to 'animales domesticos', which rules out 'animal husbandry' in English, as this refers specifically to livestock/farming. 'Animal breeding', as an alternative to the more technical 'zootechny' would permit this reading.

IN addition, both the Oxford and Larousse dictionaries give this as 'zootechny' (the Oxford also offers 'zootechnics').

disagree  Yello: could be Oxford, or RAE, but, how you can explain the people taht is working as a Zootecnista in zoocriaderos that are not livestock or domestic animals? in Colombia this people is call Zootecnistas.
