Spanish to English translations [PRO] Education / Pedagogy | | Spanish term or phrase: acta de cargo | | This is on a Peruvian technical school transcript. There is really no context. All I can tell you is that it is in the "observaciones" section of the transcript. You will also find "acta de recuperacion" which I think is "resit" and "acta extraodinaria". Sorry for the lack of context, any help would be much appreciated. |

| | (record of) results of special supplementary exam | Explanation: An "acta de cargo" in Peruvian education is the record of marks or results for "exámenes de cargo", which are "last chance" exams that a student can take if he/she has failed both the "exámenes ordinarios" and the resits (exámenes de recuperación).
This is usefully explained in the following document, which is the "Reglamento de la Labor Docente" for the Instituto de Educacion Superior Tecnológico Privado “Informática y Ciencias de la Computación” (ICC), in Cajamarca (Peru):

It is not easy to find the right term for this in English, for the simple reason that this very forgiving system of giving a student another chance after failing resits does not seem to be found in British and American institutions, nor apparently in other countries; here is a useful round-up of practices in universities in various countries:

The term "supplementary exams" and "supplementary assessment" is found, but it often refers simply to the resits. Here's an example from the UK:

So I think the best way to make the distinction clear is probably to introduce the word "special", and it may be desirable to add a note in the translation, if this is possible, to explain the exact meaning.
I don't know how you're intending to handle "acta", but as the quotation above indicates it means the official record of results.
