"MECANISMO DE EVALUACIÓN DE LOS ESTUDIANTES:

Los alumnos serán evaluados durante el posgrado mediante los siguientes mecanismos:

Asignaturas del posgrado. El desempeño de los estudiantes en cada asignatura será evaluado por los profesores que la impartan, utilizando una escala de 0 a 100 puntos. La calificación mínima para aprobar las asignaturas será de 80.

Examen de avance de investigación. El desempeño de los alumnos para realizar investigación, será evaluado a través de los reportes de avances de trabajo de investigación y del examen de avance de investigación que se llevará a cabo al final del tercer semestre ante el comité tutoral del alumno."

It just seems to be a module in which students develop their research skills. This kind of module is often called "research methodology" in UK universities.
