| Grading comment Mike: this is a good option, however I finally used "non-regular student", because here in Argentina the !Alumno libre" does not attend classes. He only enrolls for final examinations and sets for the exam.
In my context I think non-regular student gave a more accurate idea.
On the other hand we also have auditors in our schools (those who attend some classes but are not regulars either)
