Master's degree programme Explanation: Yes, the patients are there for the students to "practise" on them, as you put it: this degree includes a practical programme, which is hands-on clinical practice on real patients. The patients presumably get a good price (maybe they get free treatment), and the students get to do real dental treatment under expert supervision before they go out into the real world and practise on their own. Makes sense, really. The course involves use of dental equipment and facilities in two hospitals. Here's the description of the practical part of the programme: "Programa Práctico: (32 ECTS) Los alumnos diagnostican, plantean, diseñan el tipo de prótesis y realizan la inserción de implantes en casos de dificultad media o alta de desdentados parciales o totales con la aplicación de técnicas de cirugía avanzada (injertos, cirugía mucogingival, atrofias óseas, elevación de seno, implantes pteriogideos, cigomáticos y técnicas de movilización del dentario inferior o de distracción osteogénica). Se programan sesiones clínicas sobre los pacientes a tratar." http://tinyurl.com/kncf5wb (URL disguised to avoid posting the name of the university). This is the right one; I got the name of the university from here: http://dialnet.unirioja.es/servlet/articulo?codigo=4784433 |
