Spanish term or phrase:Naves eléctricas
I am translating a text on the electrification of areas in Asia that previously did not have electricity. It spñeaks of "centrales", "subestaciones", "minicentrales", etc. And then it comes up with NAVES ELÉCTRICAS. This is the only context there is:
Adquisición de motores eléctricos para las Naves Eléctricas de tres municipios. Estos grupos permiten equipar las siete primeras centrales de apoyo a la línea de transmisión.
Can someone give me the translation, or explain what it is? Greatly appreciated.

is usually a shed or storage area in Spain. The Mx usage (as ever, rather sui generis) cited by Taña is unusual to my European ears. The African setting may mean that they are quite rudimentary, like sheds or similar, but as MM notes, more info is needed.
I do not know the author, although text deals with Africa and Asia, the mention of Naves Electricas is in the part about Africa (Eq. Guinea), so perhaps the author is Spanish speaking; the timeframe is the present. I do not believe it was translated from another language, as it now has to go into both English and French. In another section they speak of "centrales de apoyo a las subestaciones" and use the word "nave"- Could they be "substation support plants"?
As you can see, you are only getting low-confidence answers. That's mainly because you have not provided sufficient context. You wrote "This is the only context there is." I think you probably have more context: country in which these 'naves eléctricas' are situated; historical timeframe (21st century? 20th century? 19th century?); was the author of your source text a native speaker of Spanish? an engineer? - or are you working from a translation from ... for example, French?

Explanation:
"Nave" is a term that is very commonly used in Mexico and is part of the local manufacturing lingo, but there is no strict equivalent in English. Depending on the context, it could either be a manufacturing plant (this seems to be your case), or a warehouse (less likely in your case)....Large Mexican corporations use it all the time as an equivalent of "plant." "Industrial yard" would be a less frequent possibility, but given the information that you provide, probably not in this context.
