I should have mentinoed this earlier, but th eoverall project is a gas pipeline and so although general security is important that of data transfer wouldn't be (would it?) as the only data transferred is to open valves, pressure readings, etc....
The documents are split bewteen different translators....
I think that Charles' suggestion seems logical and to fit well with all previous context, although it is hard to decide as "signal integrity" also works well and the doc often uses English abbreviations.... ho hum.
...to anexo 681 or anexo 445? They might give us some pointers.. I agree with Charles that intrinsic safety (sparks, explosions, shortcircuits, etc) probably isn't much of an issue with this kind of wiring, although information security would be.

After all, "multicables" with "señales analógicas" or "digitales" evidently refers to cables for data transmission. I don't think intrinsic safety (which refers to the risk of explosion or ignition) is really an issue here, but information security certainly would be.
It's also difficult to understand how the level of intrinsic safety could be different for digital and analogue.
