After consulting several dictionaries, including three technical dictionaries, and the Oxford and Collins unabridged dictionaries, although in the general dictionaries "deoression" is given, they state the following:
Collins Unabridged Spanish-English Dictionary:
"abatimiento: 1. (derribamiento) demolition, knowcking down; 2. (depresion) depression, rejection; 3. (moral) contemptible nature"
Oxford Unabridged Spanish-English Dictinoary
"abatimiento: A (desanimo) depression, despondency; B (destruccion) destruction"
So, in both cases, "depression" is a valid translation, but when it means "despondency" or "rejection" and not when it has anything to do with weather or meterology.
Therefore, through deduction, I am inferring it is "demolition" or "destruction".
