Spanish term or phrase: facturación (vs. volumen de negocio)

If "volumen de negocio" is the company's turnover (revenue), then "facturación" refers to...? Sales?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I always thought "facturación" in this kind of context was turnover, and I'm not sure what the difference is here.

UK English. Thanks in advance.

Explanation:
For practical purposes, at least, they are the same thing:
_______

Facturación
" f. Acción y efecto de facturar.
Volumen de ventas de un negocio.

"1. Expedición de una factura.
2. Conjunto de objetos facturados.

_______

volumen de negocio

El volumen de negocio es el total de ingresos recibidos por la realización de todas las transacciones económicas realizadas durante un periodo de tiempo específico.

_______

revenue
"The income generated from sale of goods or services, or any other use of capital or assets, associated with the main operations of an organization before any costs or expenses are deducted. Revenue is shown usually as the top item in an income (profit and loss) statement from which all charges, costs, and expenses are subtracted to arrive at net income. Also called sales, or (in the UK) turnover."

_______

If "facturación" is the same thing as "volumen de ventas", and "volumen de ventas" is the same thing as "volumen de negocio", there really isn't any difference. Certainly not 700 million dollars' worth of difference.

I think Claus has put his finger on it. What they are saying is that they are expecting to double their "facturación" in 2011 and to surpass (superar) $700M, reaching a "volumen de negocio" of $1400M. Obviously 1400 is double 700. So the 700 they are expecting to surpass and double is last year's figure. It's the only way of making sense of it.

In the light of the definitions quoted above, I don't think Claus's suggestion of "facturación" being actual sales (already made) and "volumen de negocios" being probable (future) turnover is correct. It's just a matter of using two different terms for the same thing.

So really, you just have to select different terms from the list. If you're going to use "turnover" consistently for "volumen de negocios", use "revenue" or "sales volume" or "sales" for "facturación", and vice-versa.

billing

Explanation:
Large companies have Billing Dept's; none have Invoicing Dept's.

and what do ask for at a restaurant?
or someone provides you a service and you ask how much, they will say that they will send you a Bill.

and every month - do you pay your phone invoice or your Bill?
