El análisis gravimétrico de material particulado sedimentable colectado en los cuatro (4) puntos, se cuantificó por debajo de los niveles guía establecidos en los cuatro sitios de monitoreo. De la observación de la tabla precedente se desprende que la mayor concentración obtenida de material particulado sedimentable (Punto Nº 4) ****corresponde al blanco****, de acuerdo a la dirección predominante del viento durante el período de monitoreo. Esto podría deberse al tránsito vehicular existente en la zona.

Según el cliente, blanco es un valor de control.

neutral  Dr Neil Ashby: The defintion is self-contradictory. When taking a measurement, a (good) scientist never has a "target value" in mind, if so why measure? Of course she/he has a hypothesis and a null hypothesis as to what the result may be, but certainly not a target.

background value


Explanation:
The background value is the amount which is present on any given day, then on the day you are testing you subtract the background from your measurement. The best known example, there is always background radiation, coming from rocks, buildings, you and me, it very low, but it;s there. Now when we measure the radiation after an accident in a factory or a fire etc. the radiation is measure and the background subtracted to find out the real increase.
My idea, not 100 % if it fits with your ambient air quality...but I think it could.

  -> Yep I know what you're saying Chris, just seemed to fit with the context, actually it does fit the context :@) but usually "de fondo" is the translation....usually ;)
