"Lo ocurrido con el Sector de Finanzas ha sido gravísimo: lo vemos reflejado en que sólo existe un reporte parcial, ante la Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), en los Estados Unidos, **sobre el cierre contable** del año 2002, el cual fue entregado a finales del mes de octubre de 2003. Del año 2003 y del 2004, sólo se pueden encontrar cifras dadas en entrevistas o discursos, no auditadas ni auditables, muchas de ellas con grandes contradicciones y otras que denotan, una pésima gestión."

En los glosarios aparece "cierre contable = accounting close o accounting period close", pero me suena raro usar "close" como sustantivo. ¿Alguien del área financiera me podría decir cuál es el término que efectivamente se emplea?

I normally translate "al cierre del ejercicio" as "at year-end" or "at fiscal year-end". Hope this helps.
