Spanish to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Finance (general) / Securities | | Spanish term or phrase: bolsa/mercado de valores | | Alguien podria explicarme la diferencia entre el mercado de valores y la bolsa de valores? son lo mismo? Si no... mercado de valores se traduce como SECURITIES MARKET y la bolsa de valores como STOCK MARKET? Yo sola me estoy confundiendo! Gracias! |

| | technically speaking... | Explanation: bolsa de valores = securities exchange
and
mercado de valores = securities exchange
in practice, bolsas that trade bother shares and other securities are called stock markets and/or stock exchanges interchangeably
However, when you talk about the NYSE or the Bolsa de Madrid, Paris, or wherever, in other words, the actual place where the securities are traded, this is the EXCHANGE....
Whereas "market" is a more general term, not referring to the place where the securities are traded, but rather the aggregate of buyers/sellers.
