Spanish to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Finance (general) | | Spanish term or phrase: Acciones y participaciones sociales | I know this has come up before (http://www.proz.com/kudoz/376469) but I really need to be able to distinguish clearly between the two types - the company has changed its legal status from sociedad limitada, with "participaciones sociales" to a sociedad anonima, with "acciones". I've been using "shares" for participaciones sociales up to now, but having hit this sentence I realise I have to use something different!
I can't replace shares with the exact same number of shares - help! |
| | | S.A. shares and S.L. shares | Explanation: As your document highlights, acciones and participaciones sociales are both shares. The former, as your document indicates, are shares in a sociedad anonima, the latter shares in a sociedad limitada. If I were you, I would not try to find another translation just so that you can mirror the Spanish with two different terms, as I don't think this would work. I therefore suggest that you establish in your document that S.A. stands for sociedad anonima and S.L. for sociedad limitada and call the shares either S.A. shares or S.L. shares

Rebecca Jowers explains all this much better than I can, so please see her answer to a previous question.
