Spanish to English translations [PRO]

Letter from bank to credit card company. After explaining that "payment refusals" were erroneously made by the credit company because the transactions had been cancelled, the bank explains that
"Por problemas en nuestra aplicación informática no hemos podido representar dentro de plazo por lo que, agradeceríamos nos autorizasen a realizar nuevos cargos..."
In an e-mail sent to me by the same bank to explain a different incident in which a chargeback was made because the merchandise had not been delivered, "El 9-2-08 el comercio representa la operación, esto es, abono al comercio y cargo a la tarjeta"
Anyone got any idea what they mean by 'representar' in this context?
