Spanish term or phrase:derechos económicos
Hi, this might be a daft question but I'm not sure of the answer so here goes:
I am translating a pension plan and the term is used throughout the document. So far I have just used economic rights but I thought it could also be financial rights.
Is there a difference between these terms?
Or is it none of the above?
More generally does economico always translate to economic and financiero=financial or does it depend on context?
Here are a few examples of these 'derechos economicos':
Derechos económicos:
- Movilizar los derechos consolidados acreditados en otro Plan de Pensiones para su integración en el presente Plan.
- Que les sean hechas efectivas las aportaciones por el Promotor correspondientes, en los términos establecidos en estas Especificaciones.
- Mantener los derechos consolidados en el Plan de Pensiones con la consideración de partícipe en suspenso o, en su caso, movilizar los derechos consolidados en las circunstancias y condiciones previstas en las presentes Especificaciones.

Explanation: I do not believe that financial or economic rights are the terms used in pension plans. Benefit accrual is, I understand, the amount that you are entitled to eventually draw. But this is a complex area and terminology is sure to vary from UK to US and so on.
Thanks John and the other answerers, in the context of pensions I think this fits best (refering specifically to the money accrued that the pension will pay out) financial benefits seems to refer to a broader range of benefits; pensions, holiday pay etc. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
Hi, thanks for all your comments so far. Should have mentioned it is for the UK.
I was thinking of 'accrued benefits' or 'benefit accrual' myself, as I have been struggling to find my above suggestions in within this context- and it does seem to be what they are refering to and does not conflict with vested rights (derechos consolidados), which are slightly different.
Can't remember which Prozian recommended using financial rather than economic in a comment a few months ago, and it has certainly been good advice in the vast majority of my translations since. However, as John points out, this is probably not an issue...

As far as I know, the financial benefits are those that accrue to the individual actors, while the economic benefits are those accruing to the state from taxation of logging companies and foreign exchange earnings.
