La inversión realizada por el inversor principal se elevará a xxx millones en forma de Certificados de Depósito depositados en el banco xxx, que se reserva / bloquea a través de un bloqueo interno por un período de un año. El bloqueo de los fondos será en base a lo acordado por el nversor y institución financiera, la cual informará sobre la duración del bloqueo interno de los fondos en cuestión.

I've never heard of this before. Can anyone shed a light here?

The sense I get is that there is a hold on the funds, up to a year.
In banking terms, one speaks of a hold on funds, albeit a temporary measure.

agree  bigedsenior: since it is mutually agreed to, 'hold' seems more approriate than 'freeze' or 'blocking', which are usually unilateral.
