Bus/Financial - Finance (general) / auditor´s report
Spanish term or phrase: la participación por su valor de coste
this is an audit report where the auditor is describing that the Company has recorded a 75% stake related to the share capital in another company, they then go on to say that

la Sociedad tiene registrada la participación por su valor de coste que asciende a €xxxxx; asimismo les ha concedido créditos a largo y corto plazo por xxx y xxxx miles de euros, respectivamente. My problem is the valor de coste, I just can´t see where it fits and what it refers to, do they mean fair value?

the interest/shares at its/their cost
Explanation:
I think what the whole thing might mean is that the auditor is uncomfortable because an entry was made for the shares at the cash cost at which they were bought, but that was not their entire cost because the buyer also offered certain loans which, of course, have value that apparently is not being recognized in the accounts.

disagree  John Rynne: book value is whatever you have written in the books --- the problem here is "which book value?"
