Spanish to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Finance (general)
Spanish term or phrase:activo
Hello,
I am translating a document regarding pension schemes and am struggling with the following:
Política de inversiones y de gestión de Fondos.
El activo de los diferentes patrimonios se invierte de acuerdo a criterios de seguridad, rentabilidad, diversificación y congruencia de plazos adecuados a sus finalidades.
I'm not sure how to translate 'El activo de los diferentes patrimonios' because 'activo' and 'patrimonio' are both 'assets'??

I wonder if the question you should be asking is what "patrimonios" means. We all know that activos is assets, but I can think of two possibilities for "patrimonios".
One is that it's a tautology, and " el activo de los diferentes patrimonios" simply means "assets". The other possibility is that "patrimonios" means "funds", meaning that the pensions are invested in more than one fund - and it does talk about "fondos" in the previous sentence.
However, I don't feel that either of the answerers so far has really clarified the meaning of the whole sentence, and I don't think "estate" makes sense in this context.

"An estate is the net worth of a person at any point in time. It is the sum of a person's assets - legal rights, interests and entitlements to property of any kind - less all liabilities at that time. The issue is of special legal significance on a question of bankruptcy and death of the person. (See inheritance.)"
