Spanish term or phrase:hoja de liquidación de haberes
I am curious what some native Spanish speaking person might make of this. What do you think this would be? What would it be used for? Is it obvious from the words alone? or is its meaning too vague without further context?
Explanation: Ok...besides my experience in this subject area working inhouse for Credit Suisse (in IBD), haberes is usually used when referring to earnings and income. This is also the accepted translation in the "Diccionario de Términos Económicos y Financieros", Alcaraz Varó, Hughes, page 1063.
Then....liquidación has actually quite a few translations depending on the context...since we are referring here to haberes (earnings or income), I would translate this as settlement (althought it can also be translated as liquidation but in this context I believe this is what you're looking for), pls see below
"...detail income settlement sheet within 40 days "
Sample sentence: If an employer chooses to recognize in net income settlement gains and losses ... before the balance-sheet date except for plans sponsored by a .."
ooook. You live in Spain, right? It's all over: closing of stores / bank statements, etc. It means just that: closing thereof. sort of a balance sheet of whatever it is you are "liquidating". Líquida este asunto...

Main Entry: realization and liquidation account Pronunciation Guide
Function: noun
: an account or statement used in settling or winding up a business or estate to show the results of the disposition of assets and the liquidation of the debts
The word "liquidación" is the most important term in my translation. I have left it as liquidation, thinking that when I get to the end I will have a better idea of what it might be (it even could be liquidation). As for "hoja" - the term in my question is an "hoja", right? the "de liquidación de haberes" just explains what kind of "hoja" it is.
you lost me...which is THE single most important term in your translation?
HOJA: No sé, para MI hoja is just the piece of paper / doc where info shows...
Thanks for the link, it does clear things up a bit, i.e. the difference between the "tax" meaning and the "salary" meaning, as well as the "banking" meaning (which unfortunately they don't go into great deal about, that is *the* single most important term in my text, and I still don't know what it is, YET). Cheers!
...I understand a payslip as a record of -statement, what we call nomina; liquidación de haberes is the amount owed to the employee by the employer; what the employer owes (sense of haberes here) the employee.
It's the resulting balance of what is owed; what you have to payout to an employee: adding and subtracting whatever applies, base wages + health ins., benefits, pension funds, etc...whatever. liquidación means resulting balance of what is due to you= haberes
