Spanish to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Finance (general) / Investment funds
Spanish term or phrase:añada
"Las añadas 2012-15 deberían ser bastante más rentables"
Talking about investment prospects - can I take this to mean "financial years" do you think? I hadn't seen the term used outside the oenological/gastronomic context, although it seems clear enough - just wanted to check if anyone recognizes its use in this context.
ppt presentation describing the nature of the fund and reflecting on the wider context of the economic situation the fund is set against.
Explanation: We are talking investment here. Maybe the writers wanted to add some poetry but you should translate this in correct financial terms. I.e. what is being said is that whatever financial products they are selling there (should) have a better yield in the 2012-2015 period. If we were talking about commercial paper or bonds with maturities spanning 2012-2015, you would say that these offer the best investment prospect. Thus the non-financial añada term...

The only other possibility I can think of would be 'yield' - 'Cosecha de cada año' says DRAE, though adding 'especialmente la del vino'. The yields for 2012-15...?

vintage / year
Explanation: I think it's just being used metaphorically, so I guess you can go for "vintages" if you don't think it souds too ridiculous or just use the more prosaic "years".
the year or place in which wine, especially wine of high quality, was produced:1982 is one of the best vintages of the century

Maybe if you use "vintages", you could throw in some quotation marks!
reported under Regulation (EC) No 2223/96 (i.e. annual financial accounts) must be mutually
consistent. In theory those statistics are identical, and the data reported should be the same. In
practice, differences in compiling institutions, the impact of “rebalancing” mechanisms used
for compiling financial accounts and differences in ***“vintages”*** create scope for discrepancies.
Owing to these factors, divergences may be observable during the course of the year.

Asker: Interesting link, although I really don't know what to make of it! The doc actually uses the word vintages twice, but rather tentatively it seems to me. Still chewing.

Asker: I do see it as an extension of the original wine context as defined in the DRAE as you point us to - can't see a link with añadir, though - I think this is spurious.

Period felt more convincing in the end than year, although year is, imo, also valid. Thanks.
