The paragraph below explains how the generation of sales tax by reconstruction activities affected government revenue. I simply can't understand the point being made in the last sentence. Later on there is a calculation of the contractors' sales tax, so it is definitely considered. What are they trying to say here?
"Las inversiones realizadas por FORSUR y otras entidades para la reconstrucción de la infraestructura de saneamiento generaron compras sujetas a IGV a diversos contratistas. A su vez, los contratistas realizaron compras de insumos afectas a IGV. Por consiguiente, la recaudación neta de este impuesto debida a las operaciones de los contratistas equivale a la deducción del mismo de las compras realizadas a estos contratistas y del IGV de las compras de insumos realizadas por ellos. De acuerdo con los cálculos realizados, la recaudación por concepto de este impuesto se incrementó en S/.14,7 millones debido a las compras requeridas para la reconstrucción. Cabe indicar que este valor puede considerarse ligeramente superior al impacto acumulado de toda la cadena; **en tanto** no considera el IGV deducido por los proveedores de los contratistas."
My translation of the last piece:
... According to the calculations, the additional sales tax collected because of purchases required for reconstruction was S/. 14.7 million. This value may be slightly higher than the accumulated impact of the entire chain, **so?** the sales tax deducted by the contractors’ suppliers is not considered **here.** [MV note: It definitely IS considered later.] |
