This comes in a letter explaining the payment of the annual bonus in company shares to employees. Are they referring to collateral?

I think the company, a Bank as you mention in this case, is imposing restrictions on what things their employees can do with their shares, at least for a fixed period of time, i.e. one year

Asker: Thanks Alicia, you may well be right. Shame there's no explanation in the other example though.

Asker: But is it likely that employees of a bank would want to perform hedging transactions on their shares. I don't even know if such as concept exists. I can't find any examples of this on the Internet...
