Thanks, gallagy2 and Helena. I saw those contradicting references, too! Plus, it seems like most of the sites using "consolidated salary" are from India, and so I don´t think the term is appropriate for this translation. I don´t like the term "integrated salary" because it seems that almost all of the references for it are translated from the Spanish, and I believe it may be just a calc. I´m going to go with "gross salary" (after all this research and after consulting with my father, an actuary for over 40 years!), but send a note to the client when I turn in the translation. Thanks everyone for all of your help.

As for gross, well that is basically ALL salary before tax as I understand it. I think you need guidance from the client on this one

PS. When they refer to "dichos salarios" they are referring to the salarios caídos (back pay) that are part of the award in an arbitration settlement, sorry it wasn´t quite clear from my previous comment.

Hi gallagy2, thanks. I too am not sure about consolidated salary, as I´ve had trouble verifying it, though perhaps it is the right term. There is a reference further up in the text that leads me to believe the "salario integrado" must include be base salary + benefits etc: "dichos salarios fueron únicamente computados con base en el salario ordinario y no con el pago de comisiones y otras prestaciones que
percibía el trabajador" ... My only worry about "gross pay" is that it seems to automatically call up the idea of no deductions, and I'm not sure that "salario integrado" has that same connotation. Comments?

Personally I never heard of "consolidated salary"and there are lots of questions on forums asking about it but no answers that can be trusted as reliable. Do you have any further context to help you decide if this is "gross salary" (the common term in English for base salary + benefits/bonuses/OT)?

Yes, I have been googling, and the answers provided in the word reference forum did not convince me. I have not found the term in the financial/business dictionaries that I own; that is why I asked here on Proz!
