Am I right in transalting this as "traded commodity" ?

there is a difference between "traded commodity" and "commodity that can be traded". For example, there are certain goods that are not to be traded (the so-called "patrimonio de familia", which is a legal figure to protect the correct maintenance of the family (spouse and children - specially the place to live). This figure takes the good out of the market and cannot be traded. Hope this helps.
