Spanish term or phrase: Yet, another ackward sentence
"Hasta en tanto no deba aplicar el importe recibido de los cobros de acuerdo con lo establecido en el fideicomiso, valores de renta fija que le permitan la mayor rentabilidad y posible, de conformidad con las instrucciones que por escrito le indique el fideicomisario en primer lugar."

Is something missing here? This paragraph is talking about the duties of the trustee.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Gracias. Maria ;o)

Incomplete sentence
Explanation:
This is an incomplete sentence. Everything amounts to a series or preludes, but there is no conclusion that has its subject, verb or verb package, and a complement that includes a direct object. You need to call your client and rewrite the sentence again. You do have three ideas, but none of them amount to a complete sentence. The writing in Spanish is a disaster. If you dissect those ideas, it goes like this:
Part one:
Hasta en tanto no deba aplicar el importe recibido de los cobros de acuerdo con lo establecido en el fideicomiso
Comment on Part one:
This is an unsubordinated clause and there is no subject. The person who should not apply the amount received from the collections received as provided for in the trust is nowhere to be found. An unsubordinated clause is dependent upon an independent clause which is a complete sentence.
Part two:
valores de renta fija que le permitan la mayor rentabilidad y posible,
Comment on Part two:
Again this is an just a phrase, not a complete sentence. It leads to a dead-end.
Part three:
de conformidad con las instrucciones que por escrito le indique el fideicomisario en primer lugar
Comments on part three:
Again, this is just a phrase that fails to be a complete sentence.
Overall comment:
Since none of the three unsubordinated clauses or simply phrases do not amount to a complete sentence, this is a hopeless case with nothing to do. If one of these elements were really a complete sentence, then you might be able to do something. I suggest rewriting this together with your client. En fin, borrón y cuenta nueva.
Saludos,
Richard

All of the above is based on good plain old-fashioned grammar, nothing else. Saludos.

Maria:
I am very glad to be able to help you. One of the major problems that we as translators sometimes have with clients is that they have little or no awareness of their responsibility of submitting a halfway decently written document in the source language. When you come across an awkward sentence, I suggest dissecting it based exclusively on grammar. How good is the grammar base in the wording of the source language? Como estoy acá en México, le pediré a la virgencita por tí y por el revisor. Saludos, Richard.

Richard, thanks for confirming, one more time, that my brain is not yet "fried". This entire document is a disaster. I have consulted with my client, who states to simply translate the fragmented sentences and state [text missing in the original document]. I am grateful, however, to your confirming the sentence makes no sense. In 8 pages, I have encountered 4 paragraphs with similar problems.

En fín, que haré lo mejor que pueda y rezaré por el revisor. ;o)
