Spanish to English translations [PRO] Food & Dairy | | Spanish term or phrase: postre de lulo | it appears in a menu as a desert.
1) could lulo be also translated as wild apple, or should it stay as lulo?
2) postre de .... Would you simply say pudding?
3) Lulo pudding or wild apple pudding?
Any ideas?

| | | Naranjilla/Lulo dessert | Explanation: Assuming that this is not a typo as Clare suggests, and also that the source is the same as your other questions (i.e. a Latin american text)
'Lulo' (solanum quitoense)appears to be also called 'naranjilla'or 'naranjillo' and is a tropical fruit from Peru/Columbia/Ecudor area. If you look at the first ref there is also a photo. The second ref gives more information about the plant, names and uses.
There are more hits on Google in English for naranjilla than lulo, but I guess you'll have to wait for conirmation from colleagues in the States about whether the fruit is known there or not.

Explanation: From what I've found, the fruit is known as "naranjilla" in English.
An intriguing and highly appealing member of the nightshade family, Solanaceae, the naranjilla, Solanum quitoense Lam. (syn. S. angulatum Lam.), acquired its Spanish name, meaning "little orange" because it is round, and is bright-orange when fully ripe. In Ecuador it is called naranjilla de Quito, or nuqui; in Peru, naranjita de Quito. The Incas called it lulum. In Mexico, it is lulun; in Colombia, lulo, naranjilla or toronja. Variety septentrionale Schultes & Cuatr. is called lulo de castilla, lulo de perro, or lulo morado.
