Spanish term or phrase: IB
I am translating into English a series of restaurant receipts from various locales in Spain.

This abbreviation appears as part of a something they ordered from the restaurant menu.

Lomo IB. BTA. Loncheado -

Any idea what it might stand for?

Thanks!

Iberico
Explanation:
This is not usually translated in menus and it is normally called Iberico Ham in English and for example in these two website one from the BBC and the other from south florida and a third one http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/454015 from Canada, so as you can see it is called Iberico Ham all over

agree  Carmen Plaza: Yes, and BTA (bellota) means that it is acorn-fed (not meal fed)

agree  cmwilliams: Iberian. I don't agree with 'race' as I think it should be 'breed'. However, neither is really needed in this context.//yes, 'Iberian' but not race/breed.

-> Well, I think "Iberian" is needed here, but I do agree with what you say about "race"..a rushed answer. TY!

Sliced Iberian ham loin (bellota)

Explanation:
This is really the most expensive ham you get from the "pata negra" pig that is reared in the Iberian pensinsular. The BTA seems to refer to "bellota" which the free-range pigs feed on and gives their meat its distinct flavour. However, depending on the audience, I'd be inclined to omit the acorn part as its probably not that important if they are just receipts.

neutral  Andy Watkinson: The "acorn part" does make a significant price difference, however.

neutral  liz askew: The query is actually "IB".

-> Yes but figured that if answerer doesn't know IB, there's no way they'll understand BTA!
