Helado De Crema Americana

Preparacion:

Ingredientes:

700 c.c. de leche
3 cda de leche en polvo entera
200 gr. de azcar
1 cdita de esencia de vainilla
7 gr. de gelatina sin sabor
200 gr de crema de leche

in this recipe I think americana= vainilla, rather than being an alternative flavour:

Tanto...

Is it maybe that crema americana isn't made with egg, whereas vainilla is? In English they'd both be called vanilla, though.

-> I think maybe it's that 'vainilla' uses egg yolks or yolks and whites, and 'crema americana' doesn't, as I said above: see these recipes too, though I'm sure recipes vary; ice cream flavoured only with vanilla would be called vanilla ice cream in English

neutral  marybro: in the U. S. there are 2 different vanilla flavors...according to Baskin Robbins, "vanilla" ice cream is made with heavy cream & vanilla, and "French vanilla" is vanilla ice cream made with egg yolks http://www.baskinrobbins.com/IceCream/

Explanation:
